Student Permit Rules

Student "S" Permit

Eligibility

  • Issued to students residing outside of the designated boundary.

Rules:

  • These permits are valid Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in any designated student "S" lot.
  • After 10:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, these permits are valid in “S” carpool spaces.
  • After 5:00 p.m. and all day on weekends, these permits are valid in Central Campus or Faculty/Staff lots, subject to posted requirements.

Student "S" Carpool Permit

Eligibility:

  • Issued to students residing outside of the designated boundary.
  • C, F, and S carpool permits can carpool together.

Rules:

  • Each member of the carpool should have a carpool permit.
  • A minimum of two permits must be visibly displayed. In the absence of the second carpool member’s permit, a scratch-off permit must be purchased and visibly displayed.
  • In a mixed eligibility carpool--a carpool made up of persons with varied parking eligibility, e.g., a Central Campus eligible person, a Faculty/Staff eligible person, and/or a Student--the vehicle may park in the highest parking eligibility lot/area, so long as the high eligibility carpool permit is one of the ones displayed.
  • We recommend that either all permits be placed face up, on the driver’s side of the dashboard, or that one permit be visibly displayed from the rearview mirror, and the other permit(s) be placed, face up, on the driver’s side of the dashboard.

Student "S" Night/Weekend Permit

Eligibility:

  • Issued to students residing outside of the designated boundary.

Rules:

  • These permits are valid in “S” lots, subject to posted requirements, Monday through Friday, 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., or for the length of time indicated on the permit. On weekends these permits are valid all day.
  • On football game days and during other special events, subject to posting, vehicles may need to be relocated.

Residence Hall "RH" Permit

Eligibility:

  • Criteria determined by Housing and Dining Services, once an individual meets the requirements, applications for the permit are provided by Housing and Dining Services.
  • P & T can determine if a need is present and issue a permit in lieu of Housing and Dining Services approval.
  • RH permit may be issued to faculty/staff residing in resident halls.

Rules:

  • These permits are valid in the following locations: Clark Kerr Campus, in designated “RH” spaces, Foothill Lot, Haste/Channing Lot, as designated, Ellsworth Structure, as designated with Zone “C”,  Manville Lot, and Smyth-Fernwald, as designated “Smyth.”
  • Permits with stickers are valid only in the designated lot(s). On football game days, and other special events, subject to posting, vehicles may need to be relocated.

Motorcycle

Eligibility:

  • UC Employees or Students with motorcycles and/or convertibles.

Rules:

  • Motorcycles must park in M/C designated areas. Motorcycle permits are not valid in car spaces.
  • Not valid in designated reserved spaces.
  • Not valid in red zones or unmarked spaces.

Student daily Scratch-off Hangtag, "S"

Rules:

  • Valid Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00p.m.:
  • Permit is valid in any designated Faculty/Staff (F) or Student (S) Lots as noted on the permit.
  • After 10:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, permit is valid in student carpool spaces.
  • After 5:00 p.m. and on weekends, permit holders may park in Central Campus and F lots subject to posted requirements.
  • Permit is not valid in public parking lots, at meters, or in areas designated as timed parking unless otherwise posted.
  • Must obey posted regulations
  • Valid in C, F, and S lots and loading zones after 5:00 p.m. and on weekends, subject to posted signs
  • Not valid in designated reserved spaces
  • Not valid in red zone or unmarked spaces
  • Not valid 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m.
  • Resale or duplication of permits is prohibited.
