Scooter Safety On Campus

Scooter Safety and FAQ

Scooters and other micromobility devices are an important part of campus life!

Here's how to use the safely so we can all enjoy campus together:

Always wear a helmet:

  • Crashes and falls are extremely common when riding scooters. Wearing a helmet dramatically decreases your risk of severe injury.
  • Riders under 18 are legally required to wear a helmet when riding.
  • P&T will be doing a helmet giveaway later this year! Stay tuned for a free helmet.

Lock up scooters securely:

  • Use a sturdy U-Lock and a cable to ensure your device is secure.
  • Avoid leaving your device outside overnight.
  • Parking & Transportation offers free access to secure bike cages on campus.

Slow down around pedestrians:

  • Fast-moving scooters are an extreme danger to pedestrians.
  • It is the rider’s responsibility to ensure the safety of themselves and others.
  • When around pedestrians, scooters should be going at a walking pace or 3-5 mph.

Veo and Other Rental Scooters

Rental scooters and other forms of shared micromobility are banned from campus via geo-fence. If you find these abandoned and blocking your path please report them to the contact listed below.
