Student Commuter 'S' Parking Locations

The designated Student Commuter 'S' parking facilities (from largest to smallest capacity) are:

  • Underhill Garage
  • Lower Hearst Structure (levels 3 and 4)
  • Foothill Lot
  • Ellsworth Structure

Please note that designated parking facilities are subject to change at any time, and may be restricted or reserved for special events.

Student Commuter 'S' Permit

Eligibility

  • Issued to students residing outside of the designated boundary. For boundary details: click here.
  • Generally, you are not eligible to purchase Student Commuter permits if you live within the following zip codes: 94702, 94703, 94704, 94705 (west of Claremont Ave), 94709, and 94720.
  • For students not eligible to purchase the Student Commuter ('S') permit, parking may be available at the Stadium Parking Garage (510-613-5982) or City of Berkeley garages.

Rules:

  • Valid Monday through Friday, from 5:00 am to 2:00 am the following day in 'S' (Student Commuter) parking spaces.
  • After 10:00 am on weekdays (Monday through Friday), permits are valid in 'S' (Student Commuter) carpool parking spaces.
  • After 5:00 pm on weekdays (Monday through Friday) and all day on weekends (Saturday and Sunday), permits are valid in 'C' (Central Campus), 'F' (Faculty/Staff), and 'H' (Hill Area) parking spaces.
  • Permits are not valid for overnight parking from 2:00 am to 5:00 am.
  • Parking is subject to posted regulations and may be restricted or reserved for special events.
  • Permits are not valid in designated reserved parking spaces or red zones.
  • Vehicles are required to park in designated marked parking spaces.
  • Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Semester parking permits purchased through our online channels will be paperless and stickerless so please ensure that your vehicle's license plate is entered correctly as enforcement will be conducted by visual inspection of vehicle license plates.  If a permit is shared by multiple vehicles, only one vehicle is allowed to park on a particular day (additional shared vehicles parking on the same day must purchase a separate permit online, through the PayByPhone app, or at a pay station).

Student Commuter 'S' Night/Weekend Permit

Student Commuter 'S' Night/Weekend Permits are not available for public sale during the 2021-2022 acaedemic year.

Rules:

  • Permits are not valid for overnight parking from 2:00 am to 5:00 am.

  • Daily scratch-off hangtags are valid on a single day only.
  • Resale, duplication, or modification of daily scratch-off hangtags are prohibited.

Motorcycle

Eligibility:

  • UC Employees or Students with motorcycles and/or convertibles.

Rules:

  • Motorcycles must park in M/C designated areas. Motorcycle permits are not valid in car spaces.
  • Not valid in designated reserved spaces.
  • Not valid in red zones or unmarked spaces.
