University Village Resident Parking Permits

Every residential unit at University Village is assigned a single Resident parking space that is generally located as close as possible to its corresponding residential unit.  Residents who choose to park a vehicle in their assigned Resident parking space are required to purchase a valid Parking Permit or pay the Visitor Parking Fee.  Residents who do not regularly park a vehicle in their assigned Resident parking space may allow the use of their Resident space by Guests and any other vehicles to whom they have granted permission to do so as long as those vehicles have a valid Parking Permit or paid the Visitor Parking Fee.

What Resident Parking Permits Are Available?

UVA Resident Parking Permits are available to purchase on a daily, single-month, or annual basis (where the current fiscal year’s annual parking fee is paid in full and prorated by the date of purchase through June 30).

Where Can Resident Vehicles Park?

A single UVA Resident Parking Permit allows the parking of one vehicle in a valid parking space on any single calendar day.  The parking of additional resident vehicles at University Village on any single calendar day will require the purchase of an additional Parking Permit or payment of the Visitor Parking Fee.

UVA Resident and Reciprocal Permits are valid in the following parking spaces at University Village:

  • Resident Space (either assigned to the permit holder’s residential unit or for which they have the residential unit’s permission to use)
  • Guest Spaces
  • Disabled Parking Spaces (when a disabled parking placard or license plate is displayed in or on the vehicle)
  • Employee Spaces during times when Employee Permits are not required to park there.  (Please check parking signs for actual restrictions as some Employee spaces require Employee Permits at all times while other Employee spaces may only require Employee Permits on weekdays from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, for example.)

Do not park in any other parking spaces (such as Facilities Services or Service Maintenance spaces) to avoid being cited.

Are Other Campus Parking Permits Honored at University Village?

University Village Residents who have purchased one of the Parking Permits below to commute to the Berkeley campus will have reciprocal parking privileges as UVA Resident Parking Permit holders and be able to park in the parking spaces designated above without having to purchase a separate UVA Resident Parking Permit for the same vehicle:

  • Student Commuter Permit (S)
  • Evening/Weekend MBA Night/Weekend Commuter Permit (EWMBA)
  • Residence Hall Overnight Permit (RH)
  • Faculty/Staff Commuter Permit (F)
  • Faculty/Staff Night/Weekend Commuter Permit (N/W)
  • Central Campus Commuter Permit (C)
  • Hill Area Commuter Permit (H)

While Commuter Parking Permits are not valid on the Berkeley campus for overnight parking between 2:00-5:00 am, these permits will be honored at University Village for overnight parking 24 hours a day.

UVA Resident Parking Permits do not have reverse reciprocity and are not valid on the Berkeley campus except in Disabled Parking Spaces (when a disabled parking placard or license plate is displayed in or on the vehicle).

Can Parking Permits Be Shared Between Vehicles?

In multiple-vehicle households, it is possible to attach multiple vehicles to the same Parking Permit, in which case only one vehicle is allowed to park on any single calendar day.  Here is a common example:

  • A University Village household has two vehicles, Vehicle A and Vehicle B.
  • On some days, Vehicle A remains parked at University Village while Vehicle B is driven to the Berkeley campus and parked in an ‘F’ parking facility.
  • On other days, Vehicle B remains parked at University Village while Vehicle A is driven to the Berkeley campus and parked in an ‘F’ parking facility.
  • In this example, the household would purchase two parking permits: 1) an UVA Resident Parking Permit where both Vehicle A and Vehicle B are attached and 2) an ‘F’ Commuter Permit where both Vehicle A and Vehicle B are attached.
  • When a Parking Permit is shared by multiple vehicles, only one vehicle is allowed to park with that Parking Permit on any single calendar day and the parking of any additional vehicles will require the purchase of an additional Parking Permit or payment of the Visitor Parking Fee.

NOTE: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Semester parking permits purchased through our online channels will be paperless and stickerless so please ensure that your vehicle's license plate is entered correctly as enforcement will be conducted by visual inspection of vehicle license plates.  If a permit is shared by multiple vehicles, only one vehicle is allowed to park on a particular day (additional shared vehicles parking on the same day must purchase a separate permit online, through the PayByPhone app, or at a pay station).
