UC Berkeley Receives National Designation as one of the Best Workplaces for Commuters for 2020

UC Berkeley has been named one of the Best Workplaces for Commuters for the third straight year in a row for offering exceptional employee-provided commuter benefits that meet the National Standard of Excellence criteria.

January 17, 2020

Effective Tuesday, January 21, 2020, all RFS Line trips will stop at the Innovative Genomics Institute Building along Hearst (between Oxford and Shattuck). 

In addition, the RFS Line schedule has been updated to reflect stop times (Download the PDF here). We will work to get the real-time information updated this winter. 

Due to the Shattuck Reconfiguration Project, City of Berkeley contractor crews will:

  • Pour concrete to raise the street at Shattuck and Center

  • Switchover of all northbound traffic to the West Side of Shattuck/Shattuck Square on Thursday, December 19, 2019

To West Contra Costa County Commuters:

The West Contra Costa Transportation Advisory Committee (WCCTAC) is undertaking a study to expand express bus service from west Contra Costa County to Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland, and San Francisco. The goal of this project is to expand public transit options and improve commutes for employees.

The Parking & Transportation Customer Service Office at 1995 University Ave, Suite 110, will be closed during the following dates and times for Staff Appreciation Week activities in recognition of their contributions to the University:

  • Wednesday 6/12/19 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
  • Thursday 6/13/19 from 1:15 pm to 3:15 pm.

Student Summer Permits (single-occupant commmuter and carpool) are now available for sale through the My P&T Online portal.  Please note that student carpool permit holders will be required to document their carpool trips beginning 7/1/19 on Berkeley Moves! Effective April 2, AC Transit transitioned from NextBus to ACT RealTime, AC Transit’s new real-time bus information system. The creation of the new system allows users to better predict real-time arrivals (now every 15 seconds) as well as an improved map interface for better use.

Starting July 1, 2019, all Carpool Permit Holders will need to register with Berkeley Moves Website, regardless of permit type. All permit holders must register two days per week onto the platform.
Central Campus, RFS, and Night Safety Service Detours through the Wickson Bridge will end. Normal service on these routes will resume. Perimeter Plus Shuttle Service will be deleted after March 29.

Effective February 1, 2019, Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (LBNL) employees will be able to ride Bear Transit shuttles for free, with their LBNL ID.

Effective immediately: Due to the Center Street construction, to help keep the South Side Line close to the posted schedule, passengers who would normally catch the South Side Night Safety Shuttle, at the Downtown Berkeley BART stop, are directed to catch the shuttle at Walgreen's - Shattuck Avenue and Allston Way.

Signs will be posted to direct customers to the next stop, the Walgreens'
