Visitor Parking Information
Parking on or around campus is limited, and there is no free parking available. Public transportation and campus shuttles are often the easiest and most reliable way to reach UC Berkeley.
Parking Tips for Visitors
- Make parking arrangements in advance.
- If your visit is arranged by a campus department or you are visiting for a clinic appointment, ask a representative to coordinate your parking and provide a permit or direct you to available on- or off-campus public parking. Visit theDepartment Guests page for more information.
- Avoid Peak Hours.
- Campus parking often reach capacity between 9:30 am – 3:00 pm, Mondays to Fridays. If possible, schedule your visit for early morning or late afternoon.
- Read all posted signs carefully.

- Parking regulations, hours, fees, and permit requirements are posted at all main campus entrances and in campus parking lots. Failure to follow posted signs may result in a citation or towing of the vehicle.
- Ask for assistance if needed.
- If you are unable to find a parking space, return to the East or West Gate and request assistance. The gate attendant will direct you to a public parking facility near the campus. Gates are staffed 7:45 an – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with a reduced schedule during the summer.

- Use public transportation when possible.
- BART, AC Transit, and other transit options offer convenient access to campus.

- There are a number of public parking lots and facilities near campus and in downtown Berkeley.
