Student Easypass Information

AC Transit & Student Easypass

What is Easypass?

All students receive personal Clipper Cards from New Student Services during orientation.

  • Clipper Cards are an all-in-one transit card that students can use to access public transit both around the campus and in the greater Bay Area.
  • Clipper Cards provide free service for only AC Transit and Bear Transit, however, the card can be loaded with funds to access BART, MUNI, and many other Bay Area transit options.
  • Each year, UC Berkeley students have taken over 2.5 million rides on AC Transit bus service, greatly reducing the need for students to bring a vehicle to campus.

When you first get your Clipper Card

  • Make sure to register your card at Clippercard.com to protect your card-added value (cash and other transit agency passes),
  • Save your card number in case you lose your card.
  • Tag your card on the bus and within the first six months to keep your card active.
  • Keep your card long-term. Your Easypass will be active as long as you qualify, even if you return from a break from school.
  • Keep your card safe and secure.

How to Replace Student Easypass

  • Call Clipper to block your old Easypass Card: (877)- 878- 8883
  • For Easypass clipper card replacements, go to the Parking and Transportation Office (1995 University Avenue) to receive a new card.
  • The replacement fee is $25 unless you submit a police report.
  • If your previous card had cash on it, get your replacement card from P&T then call Clipper to transfer the cash from your old card to your new card
  • Clipper will send you a new card (separate from your Easypass)  with your cash value.
  • Note: Clipper charges a $5 Balance Transfer Fee to transfer cash or other agency value. The Fee is in addition to the basic $25 Replacement fee.
