Department Permit Rules

Permit Rules, Restrictions and Eligibility

  1. There is no parking between 2am-5am on campus. 
  2. Parking permits are not valid during 2am-5am. 

“C” Daily Hangtag

Rules and Regulations

  • Permits are valid in C, F, H, and S lots, subject to posted signs.

  • After 10am permit holders may park in carpool spaces in any lot.

  • Only valid on Month, Date and Day scratched off.

  • Permit is valid for only one day.

  • Scratch-off hangtags are non-refundable and sales are final.

Restrictions

  • Permit is not valid in public parking lots, meters, or areas designated as timed parking (unless otherwise posted).

  • Must obey posted regulations

  • Valid in loading zones after 5pm and on weekends

  • Not valid in designated reserved spaces

  • Not valid in red zone or unmarked spaces

Eligibility

Customer with the title code “Professor”

Employees with an employee unit code (EUC) of A1

Employees with title codes 3612, 3613, 3616, 3617, 3619

Employees with Title Code beginning with 0###

Employees with verifiable 20+ years of service

By exceptional approval (Director level): persons whose departments certify are required to drive their personally owned vehicles on central campus as part of their job duties.

“F” Daily Hangtag

Rules and Regulations

  • Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm:

  • Permit is valid in any designated Faculty/Staff (F) or Student (S) Lots (as noted on permit).

  • Monday to Friday, after 10am permit is valid in F or S carpool spaces.

  • After 5PM and on weekends permit holders may park in Central Campus and F lots subject to posted requirements.

  • Only valid on Month, Date and Day scratched off.

  • Permit is valid for only one day.

Restrictions

  • Valid in loading zones after 5pm and on weekends

  • Not valid in designated reserved spaces

  • Not valid in red zone or unmarked spaces

Eligibility

Department guest or visitor (not for individual use)

UC Extension employees and staff members are NOT eligible.

“H” Daily Hangtag

Rules and Regulations

  • Permit is valid 7am to 5pm at the

    • Lawrence Hall of Science (LHS)

    • Space Sciences Laboratory (SSL)

    • The Botanical Gardens Lot

  • Only Valid on Month, Date and Day scratched off.

  • Permit is valid for only one day.

“S” Daily Hangtag

Rules and Regulations

  • Permit is valid in any designated Student (S) Lot

  • After 10am permit holders may park in Student Carpool spaces.

  • After 5pm weekdays and all day on weekends, permit holders may park in Central campus or Faculty/Staff lots, subject to posted regulations.

  • Only valid on Month, Date and Day scratched off.

  • Permit is valid for only one day.

  • Permit is not valid in Public Parking Lots, meters, or areas designated timed parking, unless otherwise posted.

  • Must obey all posted regulations

  • Valid in loading zones after 5pm and on weekends

  • Not valid in designated reserved spaces

  • UC Berkeley students

Issued to students residing outside of the designated boundary

“NW” Daily Hangtag

Rules and Regulations

  • Monday to Friday, after 4:30pm and on weekends, permit is valid in any lot subject to posted requirments.

  • Only valid on Month, Date and Day scratched off.

  • Permit is valid for only one day.

Restrictions

  • Valid in loading zones after 5pm M-F and on weekends

  • Not valid in designated reserved spaces

  • Not valid in red zone or unmarked spaces

Eligibility

  • UC Berkeley employees and students.

“S” Night/Weekend Semester

Rules and Regulations

  • Monday to Friday, valid for length of time indicated on permit.

  • On weekends, permit is valid all day.

  • Valid in S lots, subject to posted requirments

Restrictions

  • Valid M-F 3:30pm - 2:00am (as indicated on permit).

  • Must obey posted regulations

  • Not valid in designated reserved spaces

  • Not valid in red zones or unmarked spaces

Eligibility

  • UC Berkeley students.

“DR” Departmental Reserve

Rules and Regulations

  • Permits are valid in designated reserved spaces only.

    • 24 hours

Restrictions

  • Permits may not be issued to individual employees for their personal use.

  • Departments are responsible for proper use of permit.

  • Must obey posted regulations

  • Not valid in red zone or unmarked spaces

Eligibility

  • Departments must submit a written request signed by the Department Head justifying the need for a reserved space.

  • The Director of P&T, or Director’s designee, must approve the request.

“C” Departmental Pool Permit

Rules and Regulations

  • Permits are valid in C, F and S lots, subject to posted signs.

  • Departments may issue permit to individuals to conduct departmental business on campus on a periodic basis.

  • After 10am M-F and all day on weekends, permit holder may park in carpool spaces in any lot.

  • “C” Annual Permit is valid in Special Events lots. The number of spaces available during special events is subject to event type. (subject to posted signs)

  • Department can purchase as many permits as needed.

University Vehicle

Rules and Regulations

  • Valid in any service maintenance spaces

  • Permits are valid in C, F, H and S lots, subject to posted signs.

  • Vehicles may park unmarked spaces that are marked as “Emergency Vehicle” spaces and/or upon notification of Parking & Transportation.

Restrictions

  • Permit holders may not park in disabled person’s spaces.

  • Must obey all posted regulations

  • Valid in loading zones after 5pm M-F and on weekends.

  • Before 5pm, permit is valid in loading zones but is subject to time limits.

  • Not valid in designated reserved spaces

  • Not valid in red zones or unmarked spaces

HV Blue  BART

  • There is no subsidy available for departments purchasing BART tickets.
