  • AC Transit will returned to paid fares and front door boarding on 10/19/20. Please view this alert.

If you are a Payroll Deduction (WageWorks) participant, please read this alert.

PARKING

Parking Permits:
  • Transition to Virtual Permits and New Permit Rates: Effective 7/1/21, most annual employee permits (and all remaining student permits) will transition to virtual permits, which are paperless and stickerless.  Employee carpool permits will continue to be sold online and in-person to allow carpool parking space access.  The purchase of discounted Faculty/Staff ('F') single-day "scratcher" hangtag permits will be limited to 48 culmulatively between 5/1/21-6/30/21.
  • 2021-2022 Parking Permits will go on sale in mid-June.  Please check back for updates.
If you are a Payroll Deduction (WageWorks) participant, please read this alert.
  • If you need to park right now, the current year's permits are available for online purchase.
Customer Service:
  • The Parking & Transportation Customer Service office at 1995 University Ave, Suite 110, reopened 6/1/20 according to this schedule.  Please note that masks or face coverings will be required to be worn in the office, according to campus policy.
  • Please e-mail prktrans@berkeley.edu if possible as telephone support may not be widely available during the reopening.

Parking Fees:

Effective June 1, 2020, Parking Permits or Parking Fees will be required to park in campus parking facilities.

Employees on Payroll Deduction (WageWorks):

If you are a Payroll Deduction (WageWorks) participant, please read this alert.

  • Employees with a campus parking permit (e.g., 'C', 'F', 'H', etc.) were not charged from 3/17/20 through 6/30/20.  (Essential employees were charged for parking on campus during the month of June if they opted-in to keep their permit active.)
  • Employees with an AC Transit EasyPass were not charged after 3/17/20 until further notice, because AC Transit was providing free service.  The Employee EasyPass program has been suspended until further notice due to low participation.  Click here for alternative transportation information.

Reminders for Employees on Payroll Deduction (WageWorks):

  • Parking permit and EasyPass fees are taken in arrears.  Employees are not deducted until the end of the payroll period in which their benefit was used.
  • WageWorks will not show payroll adjustments.  Employees can verify which deductions were or were not taken by viewing their pay stubs on UCPath.
  • Employees with non-campus parking or non-EasyPass orders will continue to be deducted.  These orders are directly fulfilled by WageWorks and include: WageWorks Debit MasterCard refills, transit value loads through Clipper Direct, direct payments to BART and other parking providers, etc.  Employees can place, modify, or cancel these orders through WageWorks.

Employees, Emeriti, and Visiting Scholars who paid up front for a campus parking permit or AC Transit EasyPass:

  • Please bring your expired permit to our Customer Service office so we can determine the credit amount for unused time and either issue a refund or apply the credit towards the purchase of a new permit.

Student Parking Permit Refunds:

  • Online Purchases: Students who purchased their parking permits online through My P&T Online began receiving prorated refunds in May 2020. Refunds were issued back to the credit card that was originally used to purchase the permit.  (If you no longer have the credit card that was originally used to purchase your permit, please see "In-Office Purchases" below.)
  • In-Office Purchases: Students who purchased their parking permits in-person from our Customer Service office were contacted via e-mail to choose an appointment time via telephone or Zoom meeting so we can issue a prorated refund back to either the credit card that was originally used to purchase the permit or an alternative credit card.  (This accommodation is necessary as our staff will need to swipe, insert, or manually enter your credit card information into our payment terminals to process refunds.)
