Program Overview

The Secure Bicycle Parking project is funded through a grant provided by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. Participating campus and community members will benefit from safe indoor bicycle parking when they commute to campus, via five caged facilities and one facility with security camera monitoring.

Five of the facilities are open to UC affiliates only, and have over 120 bicycle parking spaces in total. They are located in campus parking areas: RSF, Bancroft, Boalt, and MLK/Student Union lots. The sixth parking area, at Evans Hall second floor patio, has 73 bicycle parking spaces on the South, West and East sides of the building that are monitored by security cameras. The Evans Hall facilities are open to campus affiliates and non-affiliates.

Each facility contains regular bicycle racks and bicycles using the facilities must be locked to these racks using a high quality lock. Secure Bicycle parking facilities are locked and accessible only via a personal access code. The code allows the user to access all locked facilities 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Access codes will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis up to the maximum number that can be accommodated, and will be provided free of charge.
