
Introduction
BearTransit is UC Berkeley’s shuttle system, servicing the campus and vicinity. Anyone can ride our shuttles, which provide convenient transportation between points on campus, Downtown Berkeley BART, parking lots, Clark Kerr campus, the Hill area, residence halls, Richmond Field Station, and north and south sides of campus.
On the P, R, C, and Hill lines, BearTransit is free to campus affiliates holding a current campus ID, such as the Cal 1 Card. All riders on the RFS line must pay a fare. Riders without campus ID must pay a nominal fare. (See list of routes below for the current cash fare for Daytime Shuttles.)
BearTransit Night Safety Shuttles are always free of charge and operate specified routes from 7:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. To-Your-Door shuttles pick up at designated stops and will drop you anywhere within service boundaries, and our Owl Service picks up and drops off passengers by phone request between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. within service boundaries.

Night Safety Shuttles
The Night Safety Shuttle service is an extension of BearTransit daytime service, and provides safe nighttime transit to and from the campus for classes, study, research and meetings. Routes run from points on campus to BART, Clark Kerr campus and residence halls.
Night Safety Shuttles are free to all including non-campus affiliates, and operate specified routes from 7:30 p.m. to 2:52 a.m.. The Owl Line operates from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. 365 days a year.
To-Your-Door Service
Night Safety routes designated as “To-Your-Door” make a circuit of all indicated bus stops, then continue in a prescribed service area. These shuttles pick up at designated stops and will drop you almost anywhere within service area boundaries.

UCPD's Community Service Officers offer van transport around campus during the eary morning hours, 365 days a year. Call 510-642-WALK (2-9255) to request PICK UP from your campus location (or designated Bear Transit shuttle stop or campus housing facility) within these service boundaries: North: Cedar. West: Shattuck. South: Parker. East: Prospect. Please call at least 15 minutes before desired pick up. Last Owl Service request taken at 5:45 a.m.
DROP OFF service boundaries for the Night Safety To-Your-Door and Owl service are North: Hopkins/Yolo/Eunice Sts. West: Sacramento St. South: Ashby St East: Hillside/Prospect Sts., and include all campus housing facilities.

Service Calendar
The calendar and key below indicate dates Day/Night Service, and weekend night service of operation and “Partial Daytime shuttle service”. During “Partial Daytime shuttle service”, the
line operates at a reduced schedule and there is no Night Safety shuttle service. All other Daytime shuttle routes continue unchanged. The "day time only" symbol is reflected by the "unshaded symbol". The dates "without" a symbol denotes "no service".
During class sessions, Daytime and Night Safety Shuttle service runs a full schedule described above. Spring Season ends on May 22, 2008, summer session starts on May 26, 2008 - there will be no night service during this session.

Fares
Faculty, staff, and post docs ride BearTransit** FREE with display of Cal 1 ID, or Bear Pass.
Emeriti ride free** by displaying an Emeriti ID card.
Students ride free** by displaying a valid ID.
Community members and the general public who are not affiliated with the campus can ride BearTransit at the fares listed under each route description.

Bikes On Buses
Most AC Transit buses and BearTransit Shuttles are equipped with bicycle racks. Racks are mounted on the front of the bus and each hold two bikes. You can board a bicycle any time of day, without an extra fare or permit. For more information go to www.actransit.org/riderinfo/bikes.wu
