Bear Pass Renewals 2007-2008

Bear Pass Renewal Period 2007-2008

The 2006-2007 Bear Pass expires on June 30, 2007. You will be required to hold the 2007-2008 pass when riding AC Transit after July 1, 2007. P&T makes it easy for you to renew your pass during the renewal period.

The 2007-2008 Bear Pass renewal period begins May 3 and ends June 3, 2007.

Those wishing to purchase a Bear Pass for the first time may do so by visiting the P&T office. You can download and complete the Bear Pass Form ahead of time from the Forms & Publications page.

Review the main Bear Pass page for an overview of the program. If you still have questions about how to renew depending on your payment method, refer to the How to Renew Your Bear Pass page.

Bear Pass Cost for 2007-2008

Monthly pro-rated fee for the Bear Pass in 2007-2008 is $30 per month or $360 per year for all users.

The Chancellor's Oversight Committee on Parking & Transportation has recommended an increase in Bear Pass user fees to move this program closer to financial sustainability. Those eligible for payroll deduction will enjoy the benefit of getting this program pre-tax, lowering the cost to about $23 per month for most employees. Compared to AC Transit fares, the Bear Pass continues to be deeply discounted. See AC Transit fares.

Overview of Renewal Process

All existing Bear Pass customers will be sent an email with renewal instructions at the beginning of the renewal period. If you hold a Bear Pass and do not receive an email from P&T, contact the P&T office to be sure we have your correct email address.

If you pay for the Bear Pass by payroll deduction and have not taken steps to cancel, your pass is automatically renewed and you should receive the 2007-2008 Bear Pass in the mail at the home address on file by June 30th. Contact the P&T office after July 1st if you have not received the Bear Pass by that date.

If you paid up front for your 2006-2007 Bear Pass by cash, check or credit, your pass has not been automatically renewed. You need to come into the Parking & Transportation office to purchase your Bear Pass for the next fiscal year. 2007-2008 passes will be available for sale in the P&T office beginning June 19th, 2007.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

I didn’t receive a Bear Pass renewal letter or instructions.
If you didn't receive email notification from our office with renewal instructions at the start of the renewal period, it is most likely that our records did not reflect a valid email address. Please contact the P&T office to purchase your new pass.

When will P&T mail Bear Passes to customers paying by payroll deduction?
Mail distribution begins June 5th.

What if I should be automatically renewed and haven’t received my Bear Pass by July 1st?
If you are a Bear Pass customer currently on payroll deduction and you haven’t received your Bear Pass in the mail by July 1st, please notify the P&T office.

The Bear Pass may be delayed in the mail, or your Bear Pass may not have been automatically renewed. There are several reasons why you may not have been automatically renewed.  These include:

  • We have an incorrect or invalid home address for you

  • There is an issue that needs to resolved with your payroll deduction

  • The unlikely event that the pass was lost in the mail.

  • P&T inadvertently did not process your renewal.

How will I ride AC Transit if I haven’t received a Bear Pass?
New Bear Passes should be used in the fareboxes for boarding AC Transit beginning July 1st. Expired Bear Passes will not be accepted by the farebox and will not be honored by AC Transit drivers. Fare cash payment will be required. See AC Transit fares. Please contact the P&T office for information.

Where do I go for help if I didn’t receive my Bear Pass?
Call 643-7701 and a P&T customer service representative will assist you, or visit our office at 2150 Kittredge St.
