Love Joy Sevilleja has been with the Parking and Transportation Department for one and a half years, and now holds the title of “Special Events Coordinator”. She has received numerous commendations from various departments she has worked with who have appreciated her exceptional work and attention to detail.
Love Joy holds the important responsibility of acting as a liaison between campus event coordinators and the parking administration. She is the event coordinators’ contact here at the Parking and Transportation Department and takes charge of all their parking needs, including reserving parking for their guests and VIP's. She frequently deals with Cal Athletics, Cal Performances and the Greek Concert staff. She has arranged parking for important events such as Homecoming, Cal Move-In Day, and NCAA tournaments. In addition to arranging parking for events, she also acts as a P&T representative in P&T booths during events such as Cal Day.
When asked about her employment, she states that she truly enjoys her duties as a Special Events Coordinator. She explains that the busy rush and chaos of organizing the Commencement activities of 2009 helped her realize that she truly loves her job—she found that successfully arranging parking and putting everything in order was not only professionally, but also personally, rewarding. Perhaps this is why she pursues her duties with such passion day after day.
Even with the demands of work, Love Joy pursues a wide array of interests outside of the office. In her spare time she enjoys reading crime novels and cooking everything from traditional Filipino cuisine to BBQ. She also participates in extreme sports such as skateboarding, BMX, and snowboarding. Before she came to the States from the Philippines in 2004, she even participated in motorsports competitions!
Love Joy has been an amazing contribution to the Parking and Transportation Department in her time here. She has been commended by customers and co-workers alike for her superior customer service and passionate hard work.
