Automatic Permit Renewals
Introduction
The Parking & Transportation Department is continuing to make it easy for you to renew your parking permit, transit tickets, or BearPass for the new fiscal year. During the renewal period, we are offering an automatic renewal of these services to current customers using payroll deduction as their payment method.
For these customers, there's no need to fill out forms, stand in line, or purchase online. Your new permit or pass will be charged at the new rate and mailed to your home address on record with P&T approximately one week after the renewal period has ended.
Log in to e-Parking during this time if you want to "Opt Out" of your current parking permit, or if you need to "Change" your address.

Current customers paying through payroll deduction will have their services renewed automatically at the new year's rates. Check the Product Page for current rates. New customers with verified continuous employment with UC Berkeley, may come to the P&T office and begin a monthly automatic payroll deduction at anytime during the year.
Customer's who do not use payroll deduction, but who choose to pay for their permits, passes or transit tickets in full by cash, check or credit card shall have costs pro-rated based on date of purchase, but are responsible for actively renewing their permit each year. How Automatic Renewals Work
Your permit will be automatically renewed and mailed to you at the address we have on file if you are on payroll deduction and currently hold an Annual permit. Payroll deduction of permit fees will continue to be made automatically from your paycheck, at the new year's permit rates.
You will need to take action or opt out via e-Parking during the renewal period only if you:
- want to change to a different permit type than you currently hold
- want to cancel your permit, or
- have had an address change.

Opt out steps are outlined in the Permit Renewal Action table.
