Faculty/Staff Permit Renewal Period 2007-08
Introduction
The annual renewal period for 2007-08 annual parking permits and transit passes begins on Monday, May 7, 2007 and closes at 11:59 pm on Sunday, June 3, 2007. The 2007-2008 parking permits must be displayed on vehicles in campus lots beginning Monday July 1st.
Permit holders already paying by payroll deduction will be automatically renewed and mailed the same permit type as they currently hold, unless they opt out during the renewal period.
Permit holders who paid by cash, check or credit card will not be automatically renewed. These users must log in to e-Parking during the renewal period to renew their current permit type by credit card, or come into the P&T office to pay for and pick up this year's permit.

Other Ways to Renew a Permit
If you do not currently hold an Annual permit that is paid via payroll deduction, you will not have your permit automatically renewed. You must take action to renew the new year's permit if you wish it to be mailed to you in time for display on July 1st. Renew with your credit card online via e-Parking during the renewal period, or pay and pick up in-person at the P&T office lobby on June 5th. See the Permit Renewal Action Table for steps for renewals, based on your permit and payment type.
Online Renewal (e-Parking)
The permit you currently hold may be renewed online via credit card. Visit the e-Parking website between May 7th and June 3, 2007 before 11:59 PM and select the "Renew" option to authorize yearly payment using your valid credit card. Transit tickets are not available for renewal through e-Parking.
In-person Purchases
Customers who wish to pay by cash, check or credit card may renew their permits and transit tickets in person at the P&T office. All transit passes and permit types listed on the Product List for which you are eligible are available for yearly purchase at the P&T office.
If you have verified continuous employment with UC Berkeley, you are eligible for Payroll Deduction and may enroll in this method of payment at the P&T office any time. Read more about payroll deduction and Automatic Renewal.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
The renewal period is over and I have not received my parking permit. What should I do?
Faculty & staff payroll deduction customers who did not "opt out" of their current permit during the Renewal Period, or who logged in to e-Parking during the Renewal Period to "Renew" and purchase a parking permit for the upcoming year, should have received their permit by mail at their home address on record within two weeks after the P&T mail date listed in the Permit Renewal Calendar. Please contact the P&T office if you have not received your permit by June 25th.
When were permits mailed to customers?
Permit distribution occurs between June 5th and June 25th, 2007.
When will permits be available?
Beginning June 5th, new permits will be available for purchase and pick up at the P&T office for customers not using payroll deduction. Customers who are not using automatic payroll deduction to pay for their permit can purchase their permit online via e-Parking during the renewal period by clicking "Renew", or pay by check, credit card or cash in person at the P&T office at any time during the year. On July 1st of each year, campus lots will require the new year's parking permit. P&T will send new permits before this date, beginning the mailing on June 5th.
What payment method will be used for my permit if it's automatically renewed?
Only those permits paid through payroll deduction are eligible for automatic renewal, and once renewed will continue to be deducted from each month’s paycheck but at the new year's permit rates.
When does my current permit expire?
Permits expire at the end of each fiscal year: June 30th. New permits are valid on July 1st and must be displayed on and after that date. Vehicles not displaying a current permit will be cited on July 1st.
My address has changed. Will my new permit be delivered to me?
The P&T system is independent of other campus databases. For instance, changing your address with payroll or human resources will not update P&T's database. If you are not sure what address we have on file, please be sure to log in to the e-Parking website during the Renewal Period and click on “update my address”.
How can I cancel my permit if I've missed the opt-out deadline?
Call the P&T office for assistance.
What if I don’t want to be automatically renewed?
You may opt out of the automatic renewal process using e-Parking online. Once you’ve opted out (which cancels your permit), you will need to come into the P&T office if you want to purchase the same parking permit by paying in full with cash, check or credit card.
What if I want to change to a different permit type?
To purchase another permit type, you must come into the P&T office. You may also come in at any time to enroll in alternative transportation programs for which you are eligible. Permits, passes or transit tickets can have their costs pro-rated based on date of purchase.
What if I want to stop using a parking permit altogether?
The automatic renewal period gives you freedom to use e-Parking to cancel your parking permit purchase, however you may cancel your permit at any time by coming in to the P&T office. P&T offers many alternate transportation programs. Details are available in the Transportation Alternatives section of our website.
