Who is an Invited Guest?
An invited guest is any individual or group of individuals who are invited by a University department to participate in a campus-related activity or event. An invited guest could include a vendor, a business associate, a guest speaker, a contractor or repair service. It is important to note that, on any given day, guests of a single department who collectively total more than 10 vehicles are no longer eligible for invited guest permits, as indicated below.

Pre-Arranged Campus Visits
Prior to traveling to campus, all university-approved visitors must have parking arranged through the campus department they are visiting. A 20-minute grace period is provided for loading/unloading, but any guest staying longer than 20 minutes must display an Invited Guest Parking Permit or departmental authorization along with a parking proof of purchase, such as a Dispensing Machine Ticket (DMT).
Invited Guest Maximum
Due to limited campus parking availability, parking authorization for invited guests is granted to a maximum of 10 cars per department per day. If parking is required for more than 10 cars on a given day, arrangements must be made through the Special Events department and Invited Guest permits will not be honored.
Preparing for a Visitor
It is recommended that guest visits be scheduled for either early morning or late afternoon, and not during peak parking hours. Campus departments and organizations may either elect to cover the cost of the guest permit themselves, or advise the guest to purchase a parking ticket with cash when they arrive. Departments may purchase any number of Invited Guest Permits in advance. Go to Invited Guest Parking Permits for purchase information.
Delivering a Guest Parking Permit
- Furnish Invited Guest permit to your guest in advance and issue instructions on where and how to park. When guests arrive on campus, they can go directly to their destination. They will not need to check in at a kiosk.
- Drop off the Invited Guest permit at the East or West Gate Kiosks either on the day of or the day before the visit. Include your guest's name and your departmental contact information (name and phone number) in a self-addressed campus-mail envelope with your mail code.
OR
Undelivered Guest Parking Permits
- If your guest arrives prior to receiving their guest permit, they can request a 20-minute guest pass from the East or West Gate kiosk to allow them time to pick up the permit.
- Unclaimed permits will be returned by kiosk attendants to the P&T office, and mailed back to the originating department within two days. Kiosks will not hold permits over the weekend.
Guest Instructions
It is the department's responsibility to inform invited guests of campus parking policy and procedure. The following files are available for electronic distribution to your guest:
- Invited Guest Parking Permit Instructions for Guests (need to make pdf file)
- Campus Parking Map with parking lots highlighted. Includes key to campus building and parking lot locations and indicates permit requirements for each lot. Also shows bicycle parking areas and gives Parking & Transportation contact information.
