The Bear Pass comes to UC Berkeley

The NEW AC Transit Unlimited Ride Bus Pass for UC Berkeley Employees

The Bear Pass will be available to campus employees beginning in October 2004. A partnership between the Parking & Transportation Department and AC Transit, the two-year pilot program offers cost savings and flexibility for campus bus access. Bear Pass holders will receive unlimited AC Transit rides for just $20 per month!

Employees can apply to the Bear Pass program beginning in September, and receive a pass in October. Similar to the Class Pass program for UC Berkeley students and the Eco-Pass for City of Berkeley employees, the Bear Pass provides UC Berkeley faculty and staff extended transit benefits.

Most campus employees will be eligible to participate in this program — program details are still being finalized. Employees who hold parking permits and those participating in the New Directions program can hold a Bear Pass concurrently, and will not forfeit their previous transportation programs and benefits. Employees currently purchasing AC Transit tickets will be transferred to the Bear Pass program – specific directions for these customers will be provided.
